DEATH BREATH
A brief word from Jacob
Intimidating title, right?
Death Breath is a new play by local playwright Alejandro Canelos, which we are looking to cast a workshop reading for in collaboration with Tucson's own Invisible Theatre. The play has a high school cast in a high school setting, and we're excited to rally our student voices to the task.
In Death Breath, two teenage students with chronically awful breath fall in love, and a chain of hilarious disruptions to the social pecking order of their school ensues. By the end of it, you'll have fallen in love with the whole cast of kids, each odd in their own lovely way. Canelos captures the awkward charm of teenage interaction very well, paired with the wit and irreverence that usually comes along with it. Reading the script on my own, I laughed, cringed from second-hand embarrassment, and left a little lighter than I came in. I hope you'll all feel the same way.
Selections of the script are available upon request: email rigbytheater@gmail.com for more info.
The reading itself is a fairly informal one-night commitment on Sunday, 3/30 in the evening, taking place at the Invisible Theatre (1400 N 1st Ave, Tucson, AZ 85719).
Student actors, we know you've been looking for more ways to get involved, and we're excited to have you for this opportunity! If you're interested, please fill out the form below.
